Fall Concert 2016
The four orchestras that comprise Oakland Youth Orchestras (OYO) will be performing seasonal and classic works from contemporary to master composers at the November 3rd, 2016 fall concert. OYO is proud to feature an award-winning, soloist Madelynn Rose Preece at this event.
Madelynn Preece, from Royal Oak, is OYO’s 2016 First Place String Solo Competition Winner. She will be performing Oskar Rieding’s Concerto in G Major, Op. 24, 1st Movement with the String Orchestra. At the age of 6, Madelynn began studying Suzuki violin with Lorrie Gunn at Oakland Home School Music (OHMI) and has been studying with Maria Bucco for the past 3 years. This concert marks Madelynn’s third year with OYO. In her first year with the Strings Orchestra, she received an honorable mention in the solo competition and in her second year she was awarded first place. Madelynn is currently Concertmaster for the String Orchestra. She loves life, people, and God, who she thanks for the talents, opportunities and success afforded to her. She has been studying Mandarin Chinese since she was 6 years old and has won numerous speech contest awards, taking first place at the state Chinese competition for the last 2 years. Madelynn teaches a children’s bible class, volunteers at the Royal Oak Public Library, sings in the OHMI middle school chorus, enjoys composing, basketball and swimming.
Oakland Youth Orchestras 42nd season Fall Concert is November 3rd, 2016. The concert will be held at the Oxford Fine Arts Center at 6:30 p.m. Oxford Fine Arts Center is located at Oxford High School, 745 N. Oxford Road, Oxford, MI 48371.
Tickets will be available at the door: Adults–$10, children and students–$5, and ticket quartets–$30 (includes four tickets).
